Power Supplies.
Some types of lamps need a separate power supply. This can be a transformer, ballast or converter.
All transformers have a specific capacity rated in Volt-Amps (VA). A 50 VA transformer can supply a 12 volt spotlight with a 50 watt maximum. In most cases, the terms “VA” and “Watt” are generally interchangeable. There are two types of transformers: magnetic and electronic. Electronic transformers have some advantages. They are lighter, smaller and in many cases come equipped with a self-repairing fuse. There are 60VA, 105VA and 160VA transformers. Choosing a transformer is easy. Simply add up all the wattage for all of the lamps you want to connect to your transformer.
For some energy saving lamps, you will need an electronic ballast. Contact either us or your electrician to find the correct ballast for your lamp.
The same thing goes for LED lamps as for energy saving lamps. There is immense market diversity and every LED requires a specific power supply or transformer. Consulting with an expert before buying is a must.
