Interior Lighting.



Interior Lighting can be divided in many ways. First there is the general lighting providing a basic light in the room. This light must be completed with accent lighting. A mixture of both types always gives the best result. Only basic light gives a very flat impression. Dimming can be a solution to create some mood. Good examples of this type of lighting are the so called uplighter using the reflection of the ceiling to bring a soft and nice light. Also chandeliers and other hanging lamps in glass give the same impression. If you choose for energy saving lamps do pay attention to the light colour and if possible if they are dimmable.

Accent lighting can be achieved by spots, being orientable recessed downlights or surface mounted spots. Those last ones give considerably more possibilities as they are much more orientable than recessed downlights which are mainly limited to 30° inclination. If you want to light this nice wall decoration in an adequate way, use surface mounted spots. There are many different lamps for every spot, differences in watt and also differences in angle. If you use narrow angles please make sure that your basic lighting is ok otherwise your living room might look more as a discotheque with high contrasts which can be very tiring for the eyes.
